Energy Saving

Internal window shutters can play a significant role in improving a home’s energy efficiency by helping to regulate indoor temperatures throughout the year. When fitted close to the window, as with our Clip, Click, Fit shutters, they create an additional barrier between the glass and the room, reducing the transfer of heat. This added layer of insulation helps keep warm air inside during colder months and prevents excess heat from entering during warmer periods.

WINTER

In winter, internal shutters reduce heat loss through windows, which are often one of the weakest points in a home’s thermal envelope. By closing the shutters in the evening, homeowners can limit draughts and minimise the amount of warmth escaping through the glass. This helps rooms stay comfortable for longer, reducing the need to rely as heavily on central heating and lowering energy consumption.

SUMMER

During summer, shutters help conserve energy by blocking, or redirecting direct sunlight and limiting solar heat gain. Adjustable louvres allow light to be controlled without fully opening the shutters, maintaining a cooler indoor environment while still letting in natural daylight. This can reduce the need for fans or air conditioning, particularly in south- or west-facing rooms.

OVERALL

Internal window shutters provide a simple yet effective way to improve thermal efficiency all year round. By helping to maintain a more stable indoor temperature, they can lower heating and cooling demands, reduce energy bills, and contribute to a more sustainable and comfortable home.
